Breaking News!

Your NWPOA Chairman was at the Kootenai County Elected Officials meeting yesterday (6/17) to advocate for our desire for property tax relief and got more information on state funding (passed down from President Trump) for tax relief.

Governor Little is receiving 1.2 Billion dollars for state relief of Covid-19(84) costs. He is allocating 188 million dollars to counties who want a portion. Counties are instructed to request the amount that would fund the employees who have an indirect responsibility of the management of the WuFlu. During the meeting it was learned the number could be 24 million dollars, or about half of the amount the County receives from property taxes. THEREFORE WE (PROPERTY OWNERS) COULD RECIEVE UP TO A 50% ONE TIME DEDUCTION TO OUR PROPERTY TAX!!!

The catch is that the taxing districts that apply would have to agree on a 0% tax increase to get the funding.

In Kootenai County it means they have to stay with last years 100 million dollar budget plus their 1.2 million in new growth dollars. For example, the Kootenai EMS would rather have the 3% increase to their taxing district. Some counties and cities will want to opt out for that reason too, to get the increased tax.

WE NEED TO LET THE TAXING DISTRICTS KNOW THAT WE WISH TO HAVE THE ONE TIME RELIEF!
